Dave Whitlock's Hopper

Hook: Tiemco 5263 or 5212 size to suit

Tail: Red hackle fibers

Body: Yellow yarn with a trimmed palmered hackle

Wing: Flexament treated Turkey tail

Legs: Knotted trimmed hackles

Head: Deer hair


  1. Tie in red hackle fibers and trimmed brown hackle. Wind the body with yarn just beyond the 3/4 point of the hook.

  2. Palmer the hackle forward and tie off. Prepare the turkey wing with Flexament and tie in.

  3. Tie in one leg on each side.

  4. Tie in deer hair in two applications with the first being the collar and the second, the head.
